Urban to the Core For fifteen years Urban Expression has been motivating people to get up and move into inner-city neighbourhoods to see what they can learn and what difference they can make. This book gets into the heads and hearts of our teams and unpacks the values that have inspired these missionaries to be urban to the core.

 Leadership Webinars

Two webinars (web-based seminars) exploring the theme of leadership, hosted by the Church of the Brethren and organised together with Urban Expression, Bristol Baptist College and BMS World Mission.

The webinars will run for 90 minutes from 7.30pm on 25 February and 27 March 2014.

Leadership webinars small

Kerry Coke (25 February)

Captain Kerry Coke is a Salvation Army Officer serving in Stepney in the East End of London. Together with her husband she began planting a church nearly 11 years ago. She has two children: Henry, 12 and Penny, 10. She has centred her ministry on incarnational living on a large urban housing estate with a predominantly British-Bangladeshi Muslim community. She loves baking and drinking good coffee!

Title: Relational Leadership

Developing a leadership culture that values relational behaviour. Identifying and drawing out individual leadership potential in a multicultural and diverse context through relationship.

Fran Beckett (27 March)

Fran has a background as CEO of two national not-for-profit organisations, chairing various national Boards and UK Government advisory groups. These days she continues as a speaker, writer, and trainer in missional community action and leadership development, and is locally involved as a community activist. A committed inner-city dweller, in her spare time she pioneered with others an emerging church (which at twelve years old has now emerged!), and although having stepped down as their leader she continues to journey with them...

Title: Leading Teams – Positives, Pressures and Potential

An exploration of the leadership role in building and leading effective teams. This will include consideration of some of the principles and practicalities of an empowering leadership style and how vulnerability as a team leader can be a positive thing.
