ChurchFromScratch began to emerge as a church in Sept 2002 in S.E.Essex which is an area of contrasts from poor to affluent though certainly less poor than the inner city. Peter Dominey is full-time involved in planting this new church and supported by his wife Alison, who teaches in a secondary school. The church now comprises a network of 5 small groups (about 35 adults and many children). The church holds to values close to those of Urban Expressions. The church is centred on relationships and building community. No need has presented itself for a Sunday service, weekly whole church gathering, or building. Most of the church were not participating in another church when ChurchFromScratch joined them and there was no core team from a 'mother' church at the outset and most small group leaders were not involved in a church before joing CFS.
