London Adventure Playground of the Year 2007
Glamis Adventure Playground has been voted Best Adventure Playground in London 2007.
The playground was re-opened after the campaining and hard work of a local steering group facilitated largely by members of Cable Street Community Church, the church which grew out of the Urban Expression team in Shadwell, London.
In October 07 we were delighted to go and receive the award at City Hall in London. Jim Kilpin received the award on behalf of the playground and Chris Young, a member of Cable Street and treasurer of the playground, and Father Peter McGreary, Priest of St Mary's Cable St, were there too. Children and adults were given the opportunity to say what they appreciated about the playground.
Local parents who have gone on to be part of the steering group were there and were very proud that the playground was being recognised in this way. Members of staff who have invested so much were also delighted.
Because the ceremony fell in Ramadan many more children and parents could not make the event although some did come along and wait until sunset to tuck into the buffet provided.
We are proud that Glamis Adventure Playground is one of the symbols of Gods love and generosity for the people of Shadwell.
