This is the new name for the UE Associates’ Day that we have held each year since 2004. We’ve changed the name because over the past couple of years participants have included increasing numbers of team members, mission partners and guests as well as associates.
Increasing numbers have also meant finding a larger venue. IMC has been a great venue for these events but they struggled last year with 90+ people there. So this year we are using the facilities of Small Heath Baptist Church in Birmingham. Details and travelling instructions will be sent out to everyone who books in.
Our main speaker this year will be Glen Marshall, who chairs our Manchester steering group and is a tutor at the Northern Baptist Learning Community. He will be addressing the vexed issue of evangelism and how this might be rehabilitated and interpreted within incarnational mission contexts. As usual, there are several workshops to choose from and an opportunity to worship together and share news and stories.
Please plan to come if you can – especially if you have not made it to one of these events before or have not been for a while. These have been really encouraging days in the past and one of the best ways of connecting with others involved in urban ministry and church planting. And do bring with you any information or display material about what you are involved in.
There will, once again, be full youth and children’s programmes, which will be open to any school-age children. For younger children, there will be a room available for parents to use, although younger children are welcome to stay in the main room with their parents as long as they are reasonably quiet.
The cost will be the same as last year: £20 per person (but children are free) to cover our costs (venue hire and the meals), but we are happy to waive or reduce this if it presents difficulties for anyone – just ask about this.
