Powerpoints for Pastors in inner-cities and outer-estates
Visiting Easterhouse Baptist church last weekend, our team had a lovely time. Good solid teaching from my friend Matt Hall challenging us to a lifestyle that is counter-cultural to the consumerism of our day, and a memorable children's address about Ruby Bridges the first black girl to go to school in segregated america in the 60's. It was also a very welcoming church with loads of folk coming up to say hello and a real warmth in the worship, and sense of God's presence. John Mason, the SNP member of parliament for Glasgow East, was there, too. And Bob Holman, the sociology prof who lived in Easterhouse for 14 years and helped set up the FARE project. Cool church!
But another real gem was discovering the minister Sandy Weddel's website of powerpoints: Pastors Powerpoints. Looks like really good stuff, all developed by him to bring his teaching alive in the context of Easterhouse. You can buy different pre-created sets of powerpoints on various topics. There is an awesome amount of work here, and a lot to explore. A great resource.
